  • IN-HOUSE DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY

We have an extensive  in-house laboratory that is equipped to perform many common diagnostic tests.  This means that when you bring your pet in because he or she is not feeling well, we can perform bloodwork, fecal exams, or urinalysises on the spot.  This allows our doctors to make a quick and accurate diagnose and immediately start your pet on the road to recovery.  Some of the more specialized blood tests are sent to an outside laboratory, and in most cases results are back within 1-2 working days.

  • VETERINARY ORTHOPEDIC MANIPULATION (V.O.M.)

Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM) is an alternative technique that locates areas of the animal's nervous system that are having difficulty communicating, and re-establishes those areas, inducing healing.  VOM is one of most simple, effective, and safe methods of healing available in veterinary care today.  VOM is similar to human chiropractic care and uses comparable devices.  Some medical conditions that can benefit from VOM are: limping, hip dysplasia, arthritis, disc disease, incontinence and constipation. All three of our veterinarians are certified in this specialized alternative treatment and have helped many patients live longer, happier lives.

  • DENTAL CARE

Just like us, regular professional dental cleanings are important to maintaining your pet's teeth as well as their health.  Left untreated, dental disease can lead to a very painful mouth and quite possibly result in heart, kidney and liver disease.

We use a modern and safe ultrasonic scaler to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. We finish with a fluoride treatment to help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.

Home dental care is also important in maintaining good oral health between cleanings.  We recommend Hills T/D diet, C.E.T. oral chews, and Greenies dental treats.

  • VACCINATIONS

Vaccinations are an important preventive measure you can take for the health of your pet. Health threats vary from city to city and even in various sections of cities. Therefore, our veterinarians can tailor an immunization program for your pet based on their personalized care and lifestyle. Your dog or cat should be immunized for the following diseases: Dogs can be immunized against distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough). Cats can be immunized against feline panleukopenia (distemper), rabies, feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, chlamydia, and feline leukemia.

  • DERMATOLOGY & ALLERGY TESTING

Our doctors are very familiar with the multitude of skin problems that can occur due to allergies, infection, and disease.  We have helped many pets suffering from itching, scratching, chewing, hair loss, and rashes.

At McClintock Animal Care, our veterinary team embraces the use of allergy testing to eliminate the need for lifelong medications and end chronic suffering for our allergy patients.

  • PAIN MANAGEMENT

Many dogs and some cats are "people pleasers."  That is, they try to hide their pain.  Some signs of pain include:

    • Limping
    • Difficulty jumping or running
    • Stiffness or slowness when getting up or moving
    • Changes in behavior
    • Loss of appetite

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in pets is the essence of good patient care.

  • RADIOLOGY

Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.  Within just a short amount of time, x-rays give our doctors a great amount of information and a clear picture of bones, joints, and all internal organs.  Vetsuite_Img_28463

  • ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY

Our veterinary team works with mobile, board certified surgeons who specialize in all areas of orthopedic surgery for dogs and cats.

  • FIV/LEUKEMIA TESTING

Feline imunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia (FELV) are two highly contagious viurses that are transmissable from cat to cat.  Both viruses are passed through bodily secretions such as blood or saliva.  A mother cat can unknowlingly pass these viruses to her newborn kittens. FIV and FELV are incurable but treatable, and both can easily be diagnosed with a blood test.  The test is quick and easy and provides results in ten minutes.Vetsuite_Img_28464

  • HEARTWORM TESTING & PREVENTION

Heartworm is a disease transmitted between dogs and cats by mosquitoes.  Once the worms develop in the pet, it can cause severe lung and heart damage, even death.  Treatment of heartworm disease is risky and expensive.  Fortunately, prevention is easy.  A chewable treat given once a month protects your pet from this fatal disease as well as certain types of parasitic worms.  Our veterinary center recommends initial heartworm testing before beginning heartworm prevention.

  • FECAL EXAMS

Unfortunately, there are many different types of parasites and worms that can cause harm to your pet and possibly become fatal.  Some ways your pet may become infected is by interacting with other pets, drinking standing water or eating bird droppings. Since several parasites are not visible to the naked eye, a microscopic exam of your pet's feces is needed to detect them.  At McClintock Animal Care, we recommend regular fecal exams because many parasites and worms can be transmitted from animals to people. Early detection and treamtent will keep your pet safe and healthy.

  • MICROCHIP IDENTIFICATION

Providing your pet with a microchip is an easy and effective way to ensure permanent identification. A microchip is a small computer chip (the size of a grain of rice) that is injected under your pet's skin in the same way we give vaccines.  It is quick and painless.  Shelters, animal control services, and veterinary hospitals have scanners that can identify your pet if he or she ever escapes and loses his or her external identification.  Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families.

We can perform a microchip implant during your pet's annual exam or whenever it is convenient for you...it only takes a few minutes.

  • WELLNESS BLOOD PANELS

Every year, pets age 7 times faster than we do.  That is why a physical exam is essential to your pet's health.  However, your pet cannot tell us if something is wrong inside, but bloodwork can.  These blood tests are very similar and equally important as those that our own doctors advise for us.  Regular wellness blood screenings can help our doctors find health problems that cannot be detected on a physical exam.  We can also establish baseline bloodwork to serve as a comparison should changes occur in the future.  The good news is that many common health conditions, if detected early, can be easily treated and lead to a lifetime of good health.

  • CARDIOLOGY

Heart disease is as common in pets as it is for people.  Our doctors and staff have expansive knowledge and experience in addressing all heart conditions.  We feel it is important to not only treat with medications, but with nutrition, vitamins and supportive home care as well.

  • INTERNAL MEDICINE

Our experienced doctors cover all areas of internal medicine, including care and treatment of diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and gastrointestinal conditions.

  • BEHAVIOR COUNSELING

Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We can offer advice on the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  For serious issues, we can refer excellent and experienced animal behaviorists who can establish the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the client.

  • ULTRASOUND, ENDOSCOPY & ECHOCARDIOGRAM

These very safe, non-invasive technologies help us identify internal problems without surgery.  Often disorders such as heart disease can be detected and treated before a pet becomes sick.

  • COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE

Our veterinary center frequently incorporates the holistic approach to pet health and wellness. We balance traditional medicine with vitamins and health supplements, personalized nutrition, and chiropractic therapies.

  • HOSPICE/EUTHANASIA SERVICES

Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is heartbreaking. Our caring doctors and staff work with our clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Whatever may be needed, we will do our best to accommodate our clients' wishes.  Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the pet's family.
